Genshin Wish Calculator: Pity, Primogem & Pull Probability Guide

Complete guide to Genshin Impact Wish, Pity System, Primogem Conversion, and Pull Probability — with a free online calculator

What Is a Genshin Wish Calculator?

A Genshin Wish Calculator is a free online tool that helps Genshin Impact players track their pity count, calculate their primogem balance, and estimate the probability of obtaining a 5-star character or weapon on any given banner. It is also widely known as a Genshin Pity Calculator or Genshin Pull Calculator.

In Genshin Impact's gacha system, each wish costs one Intertwined Fate or Acquaint Fate, which can be purchased with Primogems at a rate of 160 Primogems per fate. This calculator makes it easy to answer questions like:

Pity Tracker
Track your current pity count and see exactly how far you are from hard pity
Primogem Counter
Calculate how many wishes your current primogem balance can buy
Pull Probability
Find the exact probability of getting a 5-star in a given number of pulls
Future Planning
Plan how many primogems you need to save before an upcoming limited banner

Pity System Explained: Soft Pity and Hard Pity

The pity system in Genshin Impact is a guaranteed mechanic that ensures players cannot go indefinitely without receiving a 5-star item. There are two pity thresholds:

What Is Soft Pity?

Soft pity is the point at which the 5-star drop rate begins to increase rapidly. On the Character Event Banner, soft pity starts at the 74th pull. After this point, each consecutive pull adds a substantial bonus to the base rate, making it much more likely that you will receive a 5-star item before reaching hard pity.

What Is Hard Pity?

Hard pity is the absolute maximum number of pulls before a 5-star item is guaranteed at 100%. It is a firm guarantee provided by HoYoverse. The pity counter resets to zero after each 5-star pull.

Banner Soft Pity Starts Hard Pity Base 5-Star Rate Fate Type
Character Event Pull 74 Pull 90 0.600% Intertwined
Weapon Event Pull 63 Pull 80 0.700% Intertwined
Standard Banner Pull 74 Pull 90 0.600% Acquaint
Chronicled Wish Pull 74 Pull 90 0.600% Intertwined

Pity Zone Visual Guide (Character Banner)

The colored blocks below represent all 90 possible pulls on a Character Event Banner. Each color indicates the current risk zone:

Safe Zone (1-36) Caution Zone (37-73) Soft Pity Active (74-85) Hard Pity Zone (86-90)
Key Insight: Once soft pity activates (pull 74 onward), the 5-star rate increases by approximately 6% per pull above the base rate. Most players receive their 5-star item between pulls 74 and 85. The statistical average is roughly one 5-star every 62-78 pulls when soft pity is factored in.

How to Use the Genshin Wish Calculator

The Genshin Wish Calculator at the top of this page is straightforward to use. Follow these steps to get accurate results:

1

Select Your Banner Type

Choose from Character Event Banner, Weapon Event Banner, Standard Banner, or Chronicled Wish. Each banner has different soft pity and hard pity thresholds, so selecting the correct one is essential for accurate results.

2

Enter Your Current Pity Count

Open your Wish History in Genshin Impact and count how many wishes you have made since your last 5-star item. Enter that number into the pity field. You can use the slider for quick input or type the number directly.

3

Enter Your Primogems and Fates

Add the number of Intertwined Fates, Acquaint Fates, and Primogems you currently have. The calculator will convert your Primogems to wishes automatically at the standard rate of 160 Primogems per wish.

4

Set Your 50/50 Status

If you lost your last 50/50 on a limited banner, select "Guaranteed." This means your next 5-star is 100% the rate-up character. If you have never pulled on this banner or won the last 50/50, select "On 50/50."

5

Click Calculate

Review the results: your current pity zone, the probability of getting a 5-star with your available wishes, and how many more Primogems you need to guarantee a pull. The Primogem Calc tab lets you plan across multiple days of saving.

Where to Find Your Wish History

In Genshin Impact, go to Wish > History to view your most recent wishes (up to 6 months of records are available). Count the number of wishes since your last 5-star item to determine your current pity count. If you use a third-party tracker such as Paimon.moe, it can import your history automatically using your authkey.

Pro Tip: Your pity count is separate for each banner type. Pity on the Character Event Banner does not carry over to the Weapon Banner. However, pity does carry over between Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the same version's Character Event Banner.

Primogem to Wish Conversion

The core formula used by every Genshin primogem wish calculator is simple:

160 Primogems = 1 Intertwined Fate / Acquaint Fate = 1 Wish
1 Genesis Crystal = 1 Primogem (direct conversion)
Primogems Wishes / Fates Avg. 5-Star Chance Goal
1,60010 wishes~6%10-pull test
8,00050 wishes~30%Approaching soft pity
11,840~74 wishes~70%+Soft pity begins
14,40090 wishes100%Hard pity guarantee
28,800180 wishes100%Guarantee + 50/50 safety net

Main Sources of Daily Primogems

Daily Commissions
60 Primogems per day (4 commissions x 10 + 20 bonus from Katheryne)
Spiral Abyss
Up to 600 Primogems every 2 weeks for full 3-star clears
Events and Codes
300-800+ Primogems per update from in-game events and livestream codes
Exploration
Chests, Waypoints, and Archon Quests in newly released regions
Monthly estimate: Averaging 80 Primogems per day (commissions + miscellaneous), a player earns roughly 2,400 Primogems per month, or approximately 15 wishes. Reaching hard pity (90 wishes) without any additional sources takes about 6 months of consistent daily play. Plan your saves early.

The 50/50 System and How Guarantee Works

Understanding the 50/50 system is essential for using any Genshin guarantee calculator or Genshin 50/50 calculator effectively.

How the 50/50 System Works

When you receive a 5-star item on the Character Event Banner or Chronicled Wish:

  • 50% chance: You receive the rate-up (limited) character
  • 50% chance: You receive a standard 5-star character (you lost the 50/50)
  • If you lose the 50/50: Your next 5-star on any limited banner is 100% guaranteed to be the rate-up character
Situation Rate-Up Character Chance Max Wishes Required
Win the 50/50 50% Up to 90 wishes
Lose the 50/50 0% (but guarantee earned) Next 5-star is 100% rate-up
Guarantee active 100% Up to 90 wishes
Worst case (lose 50/50) 100% eventually Up to 180 wishes total
Budget Planning: If you want to guarantee a limited character and do not currently have a guarantee, budget for the worst case: 180 wishes = 28,800 Primogems. In practice, the statistical average is approximately 108-126 wishes per guaranteed limited 5-star.

Pull Probability Reference Table

The table below provides a quick reference for the genshin wish probability calculator and pull odds calculator on the Character Event Banner:

Number of Pulls 5-Star Probability Primogems Required
10 pulls~5.8%1,600
30 pulls~16.5%4,800
50 pulls~26%8,000
74 pulls (soft pity)~50%+11,840
80 pulls~75%12,800
90 pulls (hard pity)100%14,400
How Soft Pity Works Mathematically: Once soft pity activates at pull 74, the 5-star drop rate increases by approximately 6% per pull above the base 0.6% rate. This means: Pull 74 = ~6.6%, Pull 75 = ~12.6%, Pull 80 = ~36.6%, Pull 85 = ~66.6%, Pull 90 = 100%. This is why the majority of 5-star pulls occur between pull 74 and 90.

Tips to Save Primogems Effectively

Using a pull planner or wish planner is most effective when combined with good Primogem-saving habits. Here are the most impactful strategies:

1

Complete Daily Commissions Every Day

Daily commissions award 60 Primogems per day. Over a month, that is 1,800 Primogems from commissions alone. This is the most consistent and reliable source. It takes only 5-10 minutes per day.

2

Clear Spiral Abyss Every Reset

A full 36-star clear in Spiral Abyss rewards 600 Primogems every two weeks. Over a year, this amounts to approximately 15,600 Primogems — nearly 97 wishes.

3

Redeem Livestream Codes

HoYoverse releases 3 redeem codes during every major version livestream, each granting roughly 100 Primogems. Follow official Genshin Impact channels on YouTube and social media to catch them before they expire.

4

Explore New Regions on Release Day

Each new region or major area added to Teyvat comes with a large number of chests, Statues of the Seven, and World Quests that reward Primogems. Being active on patch day maximizes your earnings.

5

Avoid Pulling on Banners You Do Not Need

Pulling on a character you do not plan to use wastes Primogems that could go toward a future limited banner you genuinely want. Use the Primogem Calculator tab above to plan how many saves you need for your target banner.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is hard pity in Genshin Impact?
Hard pity is the maximum number of pulls before a 5-star item is guaranteed at 100%. On the Character Event Banner and Standard Banner, hard pity is reached at the 90th pull. On the Weapon Event Banner, hard pity is at the 80th pull. Use the Pity Calculator above to see how many pulls you have remaining until hard pity.
How many primogems do I need for 90 wishes?
To purchase 90 wishes you need 90 x 160 = 14,400 Primogems. If you already have some Intertwined Fates or Acquaint Fates, subtract those from the total. The Primogem Calculator tab above calculates this automatically when you enter your current balance.
When does soft pity start in Genshin Impact?
On the Character Event Banner and Standard Banner, soft pity begins at the 74th consecutive pull without a 5-star. On the Weapon Event Banner, soft pity starts at the 63rd pull. After soft pity activates, the 5-star drop rate increases significantly with each pull, making it much more likely you will receive a 5-star before reaching hard pity.
Is the 50/50 guarantee preserved across banners?
Yes. If you lose the 50/50 on one limited Character Event Banner, the guarantee carries over to the next limited Character Event Banner, even in a different version. The guarantee is not lost when a banner changes. However, it does not apply to the Weapon Banner or Standard Banner.
How many pulls does it take on average to get a 5-star?
The official base rate is 0.6%, but when accounting for the soft pity mechanic, the average number of pulls per 5-star is approximately 62 to 78 pulls. Because hard pity exists, the maximum is capped at 90. The majority of players receive their 5-star somewhere between pull 74 and pull 85.
What are Fate Points on the Weapon Banner?
The Weapon Event Banner features two 5-star weapons. If the 5-star you receive is not your chosen weapon, you earn one Fate Point. After accumulating 2 Fate Points, your next 5-star weapon pull is guaranteed to be the weapon you selected. Fate Points reset when the Weapon Event Banner ends.

Can I check my pity count outside of the game?
There is no official way to check your pity count outside of the game itself. However, you can view your Wish History in-game (Wish menu > History), count the pulls since your last 5-star, and enter that number into the calculator above. Third-party tools such as Paimon.moe can import your full wish history automatically using your in-game authkey URL.
Are Genesis Crystals the same as Primogems?
Genesis Crystals and Primogems are different currencies, but Genesis Crystals convert to Primogems at a 1:1 ratio. Genesis Crystals can only be obtained through real-money purchases. Once converted, they function identically to Primogems and can be used to buy Intertwined or Acquaint Fates at 160 per fate.
How many primogems for a guaranteed limited character (worst case)?
In the absolute worst case — losing the 50/50 on your first 5-star and then needing to reach hard pity a second time — you would need 180 wishes, which equals 28,800 Primogems. In practice, most players obtain their target limited character within 108 to 126 wishes on average.
